Dairy Crest has announced a 1 ppl increase for farmers on their Davidstow contract. The increase, agreed with DCD, will apply from 1 June and means the Davidstow milk price will retain its leading position in manufacturing league tables at 31.25 ppl, on a standard litre basis.
This is Dairy Crest's second price announcement in less than a week - the company notified its farmers on standard Liquid contracts that they will receive a 1.5 ppl increase from 1 June.

Group Procurement Director, Mike Sheldon, explained the company's decision to increase their Davidstow milk price, "We recognise the extremely difficult conditions our farmers are facing, with the late spring adding to the severe impact of last year's poor weather conditions. This latest increase demonstrates our real commitment to our Davidstow farmers."

"As our successful Cathedral City and Davidstow cheese brands continue to grow, we need more milk for our Davidstow Creamery. We want to support our farmers to maintain and, where possible, increase production so that we can achieve this growth. Milk supply is increasingly competitive and we are determined to continue paying a leading price to protect and expand our milk field in the South West."
