Dairy Crest is delighted to announce that Steven Harris, from Racecourse Farm, near Bodmin in Cornwall is this year's winner of the Dairy Crest/NFU Scholarship Fund Awards.

Steven, 19 years old, is currently studying Agriculture with Animal Science at Harper Adams University, having taken an interest in the family herd for a number of years, particularly in regards to the breeding programme. In 2010 Steven started showing his cattle and that year won the Breed Championship at Liskeard Show. In 2012, the farm embarked on an embryo transfer program with which Steven has been closely involved.

Collecting his £2000 prize money, Steven said:

“This will be a great help to me and hopefully keep my student loan to a minimum. The Dairy Crest/NFU Scholarships do a lot of good for students in South West England. Getting started in the industry isn’t easy and we all appreciate the help we receive”

Fund chairman, also Steve Harris of Dairy Crest, went on:

“Steven is exactly the sort of person we want to help get into the industry. His enthusiasm and dedication came through so strongly and he deserved to win. Sharing the same name as me, he is destined for success!”
