Saputo Delivers on its Community Promise to the Isle of Bute

As part of its overall commitment to give back, Saputo is pleased to announce that it has delivered on its promise to support £3 million (CDN$5 million) of important community initiatives on the Isle of Bute.

This pledge will help fund the development of an indoor family entertainment centre called Adventure Lane. Following various consultations with key stakeholders, this project was conceived by a group of community-minded individuals on the island who highlighted the important need for a family-friendly, indoor leisure facility to be developed. After several years of hard work refining the concept, this project will soon come to life.

Adam Braithwaite, SVP Commercial at Saputo Dairy UK, commented, “We wanted to find a cause to support that would be transformational for the residents of the Isle of Bute. The dedication and commitment from the Adventure Lane Community Interest Company (CIC) has been truly impressive and I’m looking forward to seeing them turn their vision into reality for the residents. We are delighted to be supporting this project.”

Sophie Reid, Vice Chairman of Adventure Lane, said, "After three years of working towards this, I am thrilled to be able to share our plans for Adventure Lane with everyone on the Isle of Bute. I want to thank the CIC Board and our fantastic team for their hard work and enthusiasm.

“We look forward to bringing this game-changing facility to the Bute community and making a real difference to the island.”

Over the past years, Saputo has supported numerous other worthy community initiatives on the island, from sports clubs to arts and cultural societies. Additionally, £225,000 was donated to Rothesay Joint Campus to fund an outdoor classroom and school garden, including the installation of a new greenhouse, allowing children to learn how food is grown in an outside setting.

Liam Dunnachie, Additional Support Needs Teacher at Rothesay Joint Campus, said, “Having this funding has increased learning opportunities and an understanding of the garden environment that nurtures the mind, body and soul. Seeing children get their hands dirty and take pride in their work is inspiring.”

Applications to the Bute Island Foods Community Fund are now closed.
